NBA Playoffs!!!

I'm not a huge NBA fan. In fact I don't even really have a particular team that I really like, but rather I like particular players. My all time favorite it Dwyane Wade. He is silky! He takes it to the rack until someone can stop him and then he'll pop it in your eye. I admire his game for sure. Kevin Durrant is another one of my favorites. His game is just filthy. His range is ridiculous and he is a great team player.

Anyways these last few games have been amazing! Multiple OT's this week with ridiculous shots by Memphis to even get into the OT's have made the NBA pretty entertaining. It will never top NCAA March Madness but for the time being it has been pretty entertaining. But for now hopefully I can see Durrant and Wade square off in the finals.

Provo Housing

Provo housing is the most frustrating thing ever. Not only is it expensive...the complexes do not care to remodel their 30 year old buildings or make them more student friendly with desks, big closets, and appliances. I don't know how else to explain it. I've been looking for almost 2 months now. We had a few different things lined up but for whatever reason the landlord decided to go a different direction and rent to girls, which doesn't make sense to me necessarily because guys usually always eat out whereas girls cook. Anyways, I'm waiting to hear back from this one landlord of this perfect house. She is deliberating and apparently it takes more than a week to deliberate. I'm not sure why, but I guess I just have to be patient; however, my patience is running thin as my contract expires 3 weeks. I'm almost to the point where I think it may be smarter to pitch a tent in the mountains, not to mention cheaper.

Toys!!

I have always liked toys and games. Ever since I was little I played with Legos, Lincoln Logs, Matchbox Cars, and even my sister's barbies. I went to the jumps as a kid (a few times against my mother's will), played street hockey with the neighbor kids, rode BMX bikes (with pop cans on the rear tire to make them sound like motorbikes), owned a giga pet, played the piano, went grasshopper hunting, collected beanie babies, played basketball and ran cross country/track, played with pogs, played Candyland and Life, and collected & traded stickers from Godfather's Pizza. Those were the times.

In high school I played basketball all the time and managed to play some tennis here and there.
That was my life pretty much. I would bike every now and again, but not a lot. I also spend a lot of time at the gym working out. One of the only toys I got in high school was an iPod. The other was a cell phone.

Now I still do some of those things, but my array of toys/games have changed. I mountain bike and road bike, ski, play the piano, play tennis, play basketball, play football, golf, roller blade, long board, play with juggling balls, camp, shoot guns, try to play the guitar, play Settlers of Catan and Spades, and feed the ducks. I have a Mac, iPod touch, cell phone, and various other electronics.

Times have changed quite drastically. Some of my siblings didn't even grow up with the same toys/games that I did. I'm glad to have grown up when I did. I got the tail end of the "old toys" and the front end of the "new toys." One thing is for certain my children may be exposed to the "new toys" before they are even potty trained, but their dad will always love toys old and new.

Philanthropy

Does it still exist?

I've been watching Secret Millionaire (on ABC) lately and Undercover Boss (on CBS) for quite some time and I always come so close to crying each episode. The shows are so touching and I've always dreamed of being in a position to be a Philanthropist. Nonetheless, I've come to realize that no matter how much money I'll have to give, I'm able to give my time and hope to be always healthy enough to do so.

Do your homework! The Chinese and Indians want your job!

Bring on 2011. The chapter of 2010 is closed and a new chapter is opened. Looking back 2010 was a great year for me. I learned, I studied, I played, I loved, I was loved, I read, I hoped, I prayed, I laughed, I joked, I slept (a lil), I worked, I succeeded and the list goes on. Charlie tremendous Jones said, "You're the same today as you are in 5 years except for the people you meet and the books you read." I have definitely been influenced by a lot of books this year. One thing I have come to conclude is the world has become ever so competitive. During my parents generation the saying goes finish your dinner because there are people in China and India who are starving. Now it's do your homework because the Chinese and Indians want your job. As I have changed my major to Accounting, my eyes have been opened to globalization and how the world is flat when it comes to the workforce and business.

A new year is a time for change, a time for new goals, a time to try new things, and a time for new adventures. I'm excited for a new year; a clean slate so to speak and a new time frame to accomplish new things. No one knows what the year will bring but I'm excited for the adventures that will come this year and from a change in perspectives. Welcome to 2011 baby: The year of Competition!
